After the London Bombings

God of all,
whose Son sacrificed his life
to unite us to you
and to one another;
pour down your grace
on those whose lives have been scarred
by the tragedy of the London bombings,
and fill us with a greater determination
to build your kingdom 
alongside those of every class and creed, 
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

60th anniversary of VE Day:

Lord Jesus Christ,
you alone have the power
over sin and death:
we give you thanks
for all those who fought
for Victory in Europe
sixty years ago.
As we salute their courage
and honour their sacrifice,
renew our commitment
to reconciliation in our day
so that every form of violence and terrorism
may be overcome by your peace. Amen.

South East Asia Earthquake

See, Lord, our pain 
as the stories of the South Asian Earthquake unfold. 
Give strength to the peoples of those lands
and turn our shock and grief into action -
in support of neighbours whose relatives are most affected 
and in the giving that can transform
the work of rescue and medical workers;
for their hands are your hands in this moment of crisis
just as it is in your compassion and love 
that we make these prayers.  Amen.
