General
- point of departure: CCP was the best available C of E approved publication. Comparisons are with CCP
- details such as bookmarks/type of covering irrelevant to a preliminary edition
Layout
- Like the separation into sections of Prayer During the Day, MP & EP and Night Prayer
- Like the way in which 'seasons' have been differentiated from 'ordinary' times (longer openings, intros. to Our Father etc.), as opposed to particular days being used in the seasons in CCP (Friday = Lent, Sunday = Easter and so on)
- Like the retention of a wide range of canticles as in CCP
- might have been preferable to separate canticles from psalms (with collects?), though bookmarks will probably help with this confusion
- typeface too small
- Benedictus & Magnificat could have been printed just once, along with the alternative Gloria, front and back. Save space thus for lectionary?
Content
- Psalm prayers - prefer not to have them at all. Recognise ancient tradition
- Why refrains? How often are psalms used responsorially in an office?
- Not entirely sure we need such a wide range of penitential material for a daily office
- Are we meant not to repeat the refrain after the canticles? Lack of consistency here as between canticles printed in the offices and canticles in the dedicated section before he psalter?
- Criteria for Gloria? See canticles 59b & 60
